About the College
A.S.D. Government Degree College for Women, Kakinada, was started with the motto: “Shree Vidya Pravardhataam “Women Education Shall Prosper’. The idea came up with the impairing words:
“A Man’s education being the education of an Individual,
a Woman’s education is the education of a Family”

The HEI is committed to preparing life-long learners for a rapidly changing society by aligning itself with the new age of teaching, research, and knowledge application.
The college aims to create an environment that nurtures and empowers women through comprehensive education, leadership opportunities, and active community engagement.
Starting from 2023-34, the college offers 14 Under Graduate Honours programs, including M.A. (Telugu), M.Com., and M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry).
The institution has embarked on Outcome Based Education, focusing on skill development through experiential learning through internships, certificate courses, and skill development training courses in collaboration with government organizations, CISCO, and NGOs.
The Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) promotes employability skills and organizes campus drives. The institution takes initiatives to foster the Indian Knowledge System in accordance with NEP 2020.
About the Department
The Department of English was established in 1962.
The faculty impart Language skills through literature to the students implementing innovative teaching pedagogy like Activity Based Language Teaching (ABLT), Communicative Language Teaching(CLT) and Blended Language Teaching techniques in the classrooms, which help the students compete with their counterparts in the global job market
